The view is vast – reaching from the summits of the Silvretta right across to Paznaun. In order to enjoy this, the best thing to do is to go to the Flimspitz or the Greitspitz in Tyrol – these can be accessed via two superb via ferratas. These are for expert climbers as well as inexperienced mountaineers, who should ideally climb with a mountain guide.read more
In contrast to standard climbing, a via ferrata can be climbed without any need of detailed advanced knowledge, and less equipment is needed. Mountain shoes, helmet, lap belt and a safety lock will suffice – all of this is available from the local sports shops in Ischgl. Safety is assured by the pre-tightened hand-holds, steps and steel cable, so a via ferrata route in Tyrol shouldn’t present a problem, even for less experienced mountaineers – provided that your equipment, your ability to assess your own skill level and to take responsibility for yourself and for other climbers is commensurate.
Indeed – those who don’t have much experience of a ‘via ferrata’ should definitely climb with a guide who will show you the basic concepts, exercises, and also some tips and tricks. An ideal way to get great results quickly.
